Unnatural Acts of Opera--(from Russell Platt's blog)

Two highly unusual operatic escapades have come within our view. The first is live: two evenings of “subversive” chamber operas by Daniel Felsenfeld and Jennifer Griffith (tonight and on April 17, at 8) at the Zipper Factory. Felsenfeld’s “The Bloody Chamber” revisits the Bluebeard myth, in modern guise. Griffith’s works are more lighthearted: “The Dressing Room” concerns a mezzo-soprano who is sick of “pants roles,” being advised by her cross-dressing dresser, while in “Dream President,” a former Chief Executive is tutored on sex and politics by three American women—Red, White, and Blue.
