New York City Opera Vox 2004: Showcasing American Composers

Dream President

Thursday ~ May 27 ~ Symphony Space ~
New York, NY

I was inspired to write Dream President after witnessing a champion undergo his downfall. Having envisioned a better world--and accomplishing some of that vision--he was undone, or nearly undone, by his personal flaws. I was disappointed, but also wanted to show how his undoing woke many Americans from a dream of the so-called greatness of this country sold to them through the media by, among other things, shielding those occupying its highest office.
